Job purpose

The School Based Health Center Dental Coordinator serves as the administrative lead of the school based dental program and functions as a key member of the dental team.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of SBHC Operations, the SBHC Dental Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of administrative duties to provide support in the daily functions of the SBHC dental program. Works collaboratively with FHCHC dental staff both in schools and at the office as well as school personnel to support a robust and growing program.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform administrative tasks with emphasis on managing SBHC dental enrollment forms and electronic health record (Epic) integrity.
  • Facilitate entry into care for new enrollees and manage appointments and scheduling templates for our public health hygienists across multiple  sites.
  • Coordinate all school-based dental services and manage enrollment, scheduling and reminder reports.
  • Obtain/enter dental billing data including pre-visit verification of carrier and demographic information for billing.
  • Collaborate with dental office staff to facilitate seamless workflows that are more efficient and better supported for both SBHC and Office patients.
  • Liaise with patients and families to coordinate patient care; manage referrals for dental care.
  • Work with SBHCs on process, enrollment and outreach strategies with both Dental Health Program Manager and SBHC Operations Director.
  • Represent FHCHC at school-related activities and community events concentrating on educating and engaging families about SBHC services.
  • Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Perform other necessary duties required by FHCHC to provide high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred, relevant dental experience (two years) may substitute degree requirement. Bilingual with oral and written fluency in English and Spanish and proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry is also required. Experience in pediatric outpatient-integrated care or a dental office setting is highly desirable; familiarity with electronic health record system is essential, experience with Epic preferred.
  • Must have creative problem solving skills with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
